PowerColor PCS+ 7870
Introduction
As AMD’s 7000 series lineup has developed, we’ve seen the flagship 7900 and budget 7700 cards, and we’re now faced with the middle ground: 7800 models. Not as blistering fast as the gaming nobility, nor as as handcuffed as the HTPC serfs, the 7800 cards are the working class that faithfully bring in profits and hopefully grow the kingdom.
Pitcairn is the codename for this bourgeois of AMD’s graphics card lineup, and it brings the Radeon 7850 and 7870. Today we’re interested in the latter, and specifically we’re examining the PowerColor PCS+ 7870. It comes with core speeds well over a GHz, and also comes with a customized air cooler to tame the temperatures that often come with higher speeds.
Thank you for a great review.
Gonna buy 2 of these to replace my 2 6870 OC’ed graphics cards in CFX.
