Not all memory modules offer the same performance, most notably in the overclocking potential. As we saw today when we ran the PNY modules alongside some popular G.Skill Ripjaws sticks in side-by-side comparisons at identical speeds and timings, the PNY XLR8 modules quite simply performed better.

These PNY XLR8 modules also offer good bit of headroom when going beyond their 1600MHz rated speeds. The tolerances and returns are smaller the higher you go in the speed department, but these modules have sufficient gas left in the tank to reach some very good numbers on your system. Running 1984MHz is nothing to scoff at. These sticks also proved to be very easy to overclock, and not touchy to voltage tweaks at all, which is always a blessing when trying to find the limits of your memory and overclock settings.

Keep in mind that memory market prices tend to fluctuate greatly, but as of this publication date, these 4GB XLR8 modules can be found for about $120 USD ($100 after rebate), which is one of the most affordable kits in this speed range and latency. This is an outstanding value considering what you get in return. These are the second-fastest 1600MHz modules we’ve ever tested, they have sleek aesthetics, a lifetime warranty, and a fantastic price to boot.

PNY has done an outstanding job with these modules, showcasing sharp aesthetics, quality construction, and excellent performance. If you’re looking for fast modules and a great price, you really can’t do better than this. The PNY XLR8 DDR3-1600 modules are a top option.
