The performance of the Phanteks PH-TC90LS surprised me to say the least. I was really shocked as it exceeded all my expectations for a cooler of its size. The temperatures at stock speeds were great and after ten minutes of running at 100% load although high, they still remained well within the processor’s thermal limits. For a 45 mm tall cooler that doesn’t take up any room, that is very remarkable.
Phanteks has a sure winner on its hands with the PH-TC90LS. I am actually very impressed with the build quality of this little low-profile cooler. The fins are thick and the base heavy and solid, and, don’t ask me how, but the three 6mm copper heat pipes buried within it coupled with the 90mm Phanteks PWM fan does the job of a much larger cooler. It also does it quietly as well. There is much to be said about the European engineering and design as the PH-TC90LS keeps up with coolers ten times its size. I am hopeful that they may bring this design to the AMD platform because for now it’s only available for Intel.
With the small Form Factor and HTPC builds flooding the market these days and the lack of room that they provide, this low profile cooler from Phanteks is exactly what the doctor ordered. I have to tell you that the installation of the Phanteks was as simple and straight forward as it gets. I also love the look, the quality, and the performance it brings. If you’re looking for the perfect air cooler for your small Form Factor or HTPC case, then the PH-TC90LS low profile cooler from Phanteks would be one I highly recommend. At the unbelievably low price of $34.99 US, it should be on everyone’s short list. It easily garners our Pure Overclocks Editors choice award.
