Patriot Viper 3 Black Mamba 8GB (2 x 4GB) Memory Kit PV38G240C0K
WHAT WE LIKED:Incredible overclocking, solid looks, great performance
WHAT WE DISLIKED:None
We’re going to first off start with what we didn’t like about the Patriot Viper 3 but I’ve got to tell you ahead of time it’s going to be short. How short? Well, there wasn’t one single thing I disliked about this ram kit! It performed better than I ever thought it would and this is coming from a die-hard G.Skill fan. I’m currently running the G.Skill Trident X 2666MHz 8GB kit and for most of the testing, the Patriot Viper 3 was able to keep up with my Trident X kit which is pretty amazing in my book.
We also ran Super Pi 1.5 1m test for fun and received the lowest time (best score) out of any kit I’ve used to date. Being able to overclock the Viper 3 kit to 2884 MHz is nothing short of awesome; that’s 484 MHz over stock speed. I’m going to be honest with you, I’m still a noob when it comes to overclocking memory…. for now. I’ve still got a lot to learn so this kit in the right hands, I can only imaging what speeds could be achieved.
This is one of the best things about doing reviews, I get to try products I never would have bought on my own because it’s human nature to use what we know works. However, I want to be clear that I will be purchasing a second kit to go with this one to add to my review hardware collection. What more is there to say about the Patriot Viper 3 2400MHz kit? It’s fast, overclocks like a dream, and is damn sexy. It would have been great if the Viper 3 kit was a little cheaper, but if you factor in looks, speed, and ease of overclocking then this kit just can’t be beat. I’m proud to give the Patriot Viper 3 2400 MHz Black Mamba kit the Pure Overclock Editors Choice Award.
