Introduction

Ever have a blind date that didn’t quite live up to your hopes? Maybe took a trip and the hotel wasn’t exactly as nice as what was shown in the brochure? How about a great used car that turned out to be a lemon? I’m sure most of us can relate on some level to the lesson learned that what we were promised doesn’t always live up to the hype.

Well, recently we’ve been looking at several Solid State Drives (with more on the way) and today we’ll be examining the Patriot Torqx that features some impressive performance claims. We’ve heard several manufacturers boast about their products and top performance numbers, and a few have delivered but a few haven’t, so forgive us if we’re a bit skeptical.

That’s why we’re putting the Patriot Torqx today against some of the fastest SSDs on the market and see just how well it can live up to those claims. Let’s take a closer look and find out.
