In terms of aesthetics, these Gamer 2 modules are a bit on the conservative side but sleek nonetheless, and would look fantastic in just about any motherboard, especially a new Sandy Bridge one that has a predominantly black or blue colour scheme. From a functional perspective, the heatspreaders are extremely low profile, so there won’t be any clearance issues in the DIMM slots if you have a monstrous CPU cooler.

The Sandy Bridge P67 platform has really changed the rules of the game, and unless a set of memory modules can be run at one whole speed level higher than their rated specification, overclocking is essentially null and void. Unfortunately these Gamer 2 sticks didn’t have enough headroom to reach the next speed level at 1866MHz, but we’re not entirely surprised given the very affordable price tag here.

Priced at $103 USD, these Gamer 2 modules offer some excellent value. Of course, they can’t really compete with low latency/high speed modules, but unless you’re willing to pay top dollar for benching material, that’s really not necessary with a Sandy Bridge platform.

As we’ve seen time and again from Patriot, they produce memory modules that bring impressive value for the performance offered. If you want 8GB worth of memory that won’t break the bank for your Sandy Bridge system, these Gamer 2 modules deserve a close look.
