Summary

The OCZ ZX Series 1250W is a power supply that delivers solid features and performance and does it in a sleek aesthetic as well. From a functional standpoint, the ZX has excellent voltage regulation and efficiency, requiring an insanely hungry system to tax this beast. With a single +12V rail and 104 Amps available here, you’ll need a system with components worth a small fortune, along with an insanely insatiable appetitie for power and speed, just to make this unit stand up and take notice.

The ZX Series 1250W is also very user-friendly for daily 24/7 operation, running very quiet when idle and load, with the fan managing to keep noise levels impressively low. A wide assortment of sleeved modular cables that support the latest multiple SLI/CrossFire setups, an easy-to-use connection design, and a fingerprint-resistant finish also add to the positives here. The cable lengths here are quite generous, not the longest we’ve seen, but should be adequate for those who have full tower cases. And with an 80 PLUS Gold rating, this unit is impressively efficient.

Considering the power available on this unit, it’s priced extremely well at approximately $240 at major online vendors (we found is for $210 after rebate), making it the least expensive unit in this power range that is 80PLUS Gold certified. That’s a great value for a quality unit.
