Introduction

OCZ has a well established reputation for yielding reliable equipment, from memory modules through the entire spectrum of computer related apparatus like phase cooling units to the PC enthusiast class and home user markets.  OCZ recently introduced their new Z Series 80+ Silver and Gold Certified power supplies, which includes a few different models ranging from 550W up to 1000W units.

With an influx in the components we put into our chassis, and the fiercer our computers become, the more vigor they require to function properly. Eighty Plus certification is becoming a new standard for rating the efficiency of power supplies. Now obviously there are standards that have to be met in order to have a power supply certified in the 80+ Bronze, Silver or Gold classifications. Today more than ever companies are succumbing to the pressures of a more educated public, and submitting their power supplies for certification. So when you choose a power supply having 80 plus label on the PSU is a good starting point which brings us to the PSU we will be reviewing today: the 80+ Silver Certified OCZ 650W Z series power supply.

Thanks go to our friends at OCZ for supplying the review sample.

Entering the memory market in August 2000, OCZ Technology was built to manufacture the best high speed RAM. OCZ was founded by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts, and our commitment to the end-user has not digressed. At OCZ we have one primary goal, to make sure that every customer is 110% satisfied. We offer a Lifetime Warranty on every memory module we sell. We back this warranty with friendly, courteous staff that is willing to answer any question.
