We’ve seen SandForce-based solid state drives become very popular over the last while as prices have continued to drop and consumers taking notice of the massive system performance boost that these SSDs can offer. And while these drives are very fast, there are some people who really crave speed. And today might be just the thing to satisfy that craving: the OCZ Revo X2.

OCZ is known for their SSD innovations, and the Revo X2 looks to be another in a long line, and the immediate successor to the original Revo, taking what was already a very fast drive and now putting it on nitrous. The Revo X2 acts like a bootable drive but looks like a card since it plugs directly into the motherboard, bringing a whole new level of speed into the mix. No worries about SATA restrictions here, folks.

It does have a couple drawbacks, however, as we know TRIM is not supported in RAID setups. And top performance doesn’t come cheap either. However, the intoxicating speeds that the Revo X2 offers will undoubtedly tempt the enthusiast in all of us.

Think a SandForce SSD is fast? Wait until you see what happens when four of them are dropped here onto a single card in a RAID 0 setup. Buckle up, you’re about to take a drive in the fast lane. On the Autobahn.
