OCZ 4GB DDR3-1600 Intel XMP
Introduction
We’ve seen most major memory manufacturers continue to release products optimized for the Core i5/i7 LGA1156 platform, and while these dual channel modules don’t have the extreme horsepower of their larger LGA1366 triple channel siblings, they still pack quite a punch nonetheless.
We have seen in our various testing that performance differences at the same speeds and timings are not terribly different, but when looking to overclock, that’s when the real disparity starts to show among the products, as the headroom for higher speeds is what seems to count on the 1156 platform. That being said, there is also a convenience factor, as novice enthusiasts may be a bit overwhelmed by the extensive combination of speeds, timings, and voltages required to extract the most out of their system. As a result, OCZ has some Intel-branded memory modules available that offer Extreme Memory Profiles (XMP) that make overclocking quick and simple.
OCZ XMP Edition 4GB DDR3-1600 CL8 modules are optimized for use in the LGA1156 socket Core i5/i7 platform, and as we’ve seen in our past testing, OCZ modules typically offer great aesthetics and performance, including overclocking headroom. So has OCZ produced another winner with these XMP Edition sticks? Let’s find out.
