Introduction

As our machines have become more high-powered (and, in many cases, more high-strung), it becomes of increasing importance to monitor the machines’ health.  The vast majority of the time, high temperatures are the big concern, especially if you’re pushing big volts to the CPU and the rig is SLI or Crossfired to the gills.  Not surprisingly, a number of enterprising businesses have been happy to provide hardware solutions for this; after all, you have a lot going on in your typical frag-fest and don’t have time (or screen space) to keep an eye on all the things that can get too hot and ruin your day.

In addition, the ability to control various facets of these things—specifically fan speed—again, without having to mess with a bunch of onscreen stuff that would interfere with what you’d rather be doing, is another plus.  Also, being the highly-focused bunch that we are, the device has to look good in our rig.  NZXT, they of the killer cases (and more recently the Avatar Gaming Mouse), has stepped up to the plate with the Sentry LX high Performance Fan Controller.

Thank you to our friends at NZXT for supplying the review sample.
