NZXT Hale90 650W
The white aesthetic of the Hale90 series is unquestionably unique in a sea of black and gray power supplies, standing out from the crowd. If you like something different, then this may be the one for you. But good looks will only go so far, and a power supply must have strong performance. And the Hale90 certainly has that as well, and the 80PLUS Gold certification is a boon too. NZXT provides sufficient cables which will allow SLI or CrossFire setup and offering clean current delivery under heavy load and still provide stable voltage output, over current protection and over voltage protection as well as short circuit output protection. The features on the NZXT HALE90 650W are excellent. Further, the 140mm fan does a nice job of keeping the unit cool when taxed with some power hungry components.
The modular cable connector setup employs an easy-to-use design, and the entire package is housed in a scratch-resistant finish. The native cables on the HALE90 650W are approximately 22 inches or 550mm long; the included modular cables are approximately 22 inches or 550mm in total length. The SATA and 4pin Molex connections are spaced approximately 6 inches or 150mm apart. All of the modular cables are the “Flat” cable design which we found to be quite easy to work with.
From a functional standpoint, the NZXT HALE90 650W boasts excellent voltage regulation, very good efficiency, and a quiet operation until it’s heavily loaded and then the fan ramps up and only then is the noise audible. Certainly the 140mm fan makes a big difference here to help keep noise levels down.
Currently coming in around $120 USD, the NZXT HALE90 650W is the least expensive 80PLUS Gold certified power supply at this wattage on the market. It offers a great combination of features, aesthetics, quality, versatility, and performance. If you’re a person that appreciates quality design, nice esthetics and construction, then this 650W power supply is a very good option.
