Summary

As a self-professed gamer, I always look for a case that has good air circulation, room to work inside, and easy access to the hardware for when you want to do some upgrading. The NZXT Guardian 921 sports some good features in an aggressively-styled packages, with an LED temperature monitor and water cooling setup, glowing a stunning blue throughout the case, this is a case that someone on a budget will find attractive.?

The 921 does have some drawbacks; while it glows blue, it does not have an option to come in other colors. Not a big deal but blue is rather overdone these days. It can only support up to four hard drives and three 5.25 drive bays. So if I throw in the NZXT Sentry LX fan controller I have only one slot left for an optical drive. Cable management in the 921 will also be a bit difficult; it lacks motherboard holes and any significant space behind the hard drive cage. The other issue noted here is the bumps and overspray on the paint job; again, not a dealbreaker but something worth nothing that speaks to the successful delivery of a quality product.

The Guardian 921 is definitely marketed towards gamers. Say what you want but the blue LEDs, flashy and agressive exterior design, and temperature displays conjure images of LAN parties and Counterstrike: Source. If those words make you excited, then the 921 is right up your alley. If you just rolled your eyes, then you are likely not the target demographic that NZXT has in mind. That being said, the 921 is an improvement from its predecessor and is a good case for those of you on a budget. You certainly get some nice features packed into an affordable package, with the Guardian 921 going for about $100 USD at major online retailers.

If you’re looking for a new gamer case that won’t break the bank but will leave you satisfied with some good features for your hard-earned dollar, then we believe the NZXT Guardian 921 is a case you should be considering.
