Summary:

NZXT CRYO V60

Let me start off by saying that the CRYO V60 by NZXT is a winner despite its low price tag and entry level positioning. Supporting notebooks up to fifteen inches with its new fan-less Vortex design was a very bold move. It seems to have paid off performance wise, as the NZXT CRYO V60 is slim and very light weight, and sports a very low profile, and keeps our laptop very cool.

The two hidden blower motor/squirrel cage fans that produce the cyclone or vortex air flow actually rune extremely quiet at low speed, and pushes a lot of air exactly where it’s needed. When you crank these baby’s up, you can definitely hear them running. I would have liked them to be a bit more on the quiet side, but frankly they get the job done when you need them, although I really doubt you will need to push them this hard. They are definitely quieter at the midpoint and very quiet at lower speeds. The NZXT V60 comes in two colors: Black or White. I would have also liked to see a cable storage area on the back side to store the USB cable, but this is a minor quibble.

The bottom line is the NZXT V60 with its new bold Vortex design is a real a winner here, sporting looks and performance along with features you don’t normally find on a cooler at this price range. More importantly it does the job it was designed to do. It keeps your laptop cool and with an MSRP of $34.99 is a good buy.

NZXT CRYO X60

I have to say over the years I have reviewed a lot of notebook coolers, but this particular cooler is one I really enjoyed using. The NZXT X60 cooler with its rugged Aluminum design not only offers you a solid build, but you are likely to want to show off its beautiful asymmetrical design and elegant styling as well.

The two 120 mm fans push a ton of air and do it quietly. The integrated five speed fan controller works like a charm. I love the fact that you can power it up off your USB connection on your laptop or AC adapter if needed. This will save your laptop’s battery life. I also love the fact that it offers four USB 2.0 data transfer connections, on/off switch, and the adjustable leg height which gives you the ergonomic positions you need.

The NZXT X60 is not your typical run of the mill laptop cooler, it’s one that will definitely keep your notebook or laptop running cool regardless of what you are doing. It states that it supports notebooks up to 16” but it also handled my 17” laptop with no problems. The bottom line is if you’re in the market for a cooler that is built well looks awesome, is easy to transport, and will cool your laptop like no other, then I highly recommend the NZXT X60 with an MSRP of $54.99. It is worth every penny. Both coolers in my opinion are a step above the rest for ingenuity in design, as well as performance and garner Pure Overclocks Great Hardware Award.
