I feel like I’ve been dreaming of this moment for a long time. Once RGB started becoming a thing, I began to think it needed to be on EVERY component. I’m still waiting for RGB SSDs and some more variety in the PSU market. Regardless, NZXT has done a remarkable job with their new AER RGB fans. The ring looks fantastic. Every time someone sees my desktop, they’re taken aback at how great everything looks. When you combine that with the fact that they perform well and the software is better than ever, it’s really hard not to recommend these fans to everyone.
Honestly, the only reason I think these fans will be hard to purchase is the price. At $30 per fan, that can be a steep obstacle for some consumers to get over. On the other hand, quality fans can easily run in the $20 range and when you consider that the Aer RGB essentially has an integrated LED strip, the price isn’t too unreasonable. For some though, it’s still pretty pricey for a fan. While this may be the worst negative on these products, it’s hardly something that can taint what is an exceptional release. In “light” of this, we happily award the NZXT Aer RGB Case Fans the Pureoverclock Editor’s Choice Award!
