Overview

Hardware:

Manufacturer:

Price at time of Review: Fans - $29.95, Chromax Acc. - $6.90

WHAT WE LIKED:

Great performance, Silent, 12V works excellently, Solid rad performance for 140mm, Amazing rad performance for 120mm, Price is reasonable for fans and good for accessories, Colors, Colors, Colors!!!

WHAT WE DISLIKED:

Still going to pay more than average for these fans

BOTTOM LINE:
These are top-of-the-line fans for just about any use. Especially with the new Chromax accessories, color scheme problems are mostly a thing of the past. The only niche they can't fill is the shiny LED one by deciding to keep a more elegant tone instead.

Introduction

Noctua Chromax (12)

Typically, nobody is supposed to run a piece of hardware outside of the way that it was intended to run. Of course, we make exceptions because we love to overclock things and see how much extra performance there is to be gained. So it may seem a bit strange to review something and only give it half of what it’s capable of. When you consider that the goal is silence in cooling, then it begins to make sense. NOCTUA just released a new series of industrialPPC fans that rate at 24V. While this can be useful for high end server environments that don’t care about noise as much, the benefit for everyday consumers is at 12V, the fans will run more silently while hopefully giving decent air flow. We’ll find out how well they do, but there’s one more huge thing that consumers have been waiting eons for.

COLORS!!! That’s right. NOCTUA is finally giving consumers a broad range of colors to customize their fans beyond brown or beige (I suppose there were those grey colors too). Personally, all it took for me to fall in love with a NOCTUA fan was to see how it performed in person, but I totally understand people who don’t go in on one of them because of the color scheme. Now there are Chromax accessories that allow the user to customize each fan to have a splash of color that matches a build better, while still having the professional look that comes from having a NOCTUA fan over a flashy LED fan. We’ll see how those look in a bit, but for now, let’s hear a word from the company behind our products today.

Noctua comes from a cooperation of the Austrian Rascom Computerdistribution Ges.m.b.H. with the Taiwanese cooling specialist Kolink International Corporation, pooling more than ten years of experience in the development, manufacturing and marketing of high-end cooling components. Established in 2005, Noctua took the international silent enthusiasts’ hearts by storm and quickly developed into one of the most acclaimed suppliers of premium quality quiet cooling products. Today, Noctua is present in more than 30 countries across the globe and working with several hundred sales partners. Chosen by noise conscious PC users, system integrators and industry clients alike, Noctua has become synonymous with impeccable quality, excellent customer service and class leading quiet cooling performance.

    Hello Josh
Maybe I missed it but are these closed corner or open corner fans like the F-12s. The Chromax addon is 6.95 sold separately, do you think the addon and the F12 would be as good or not. Just interested in fans at the moment. Changing all my rad fans.
