Recently we’ve seen the SandForce-based solid state drives making waves in the high-performance storage arena with their killer performance numbers. Powered by the SandForce SF-1200 controller, a little juggernaut that packs a punch, these drives have made quite a positive impression on us.

These SandForce drives tend to offer extremely similar performance for the most part, but we have seen a few differences in performance, but probably more so in terms of pricing. Consumers may not notice 2MB/s difference in transfer rates, but they’ll notice $20 cheaper, for example. Today we’re looking at another SandForce SSD, the Mushkin Callisto Deluxe 120GB.

The Callisto Deluxe looks to offer the same killer performance as its competitors, but more importantly it comes with an extremely impressive price tag at only $269. Frankly, we’re shocked at such an amazing value.

So the question remains: for this price, can the performance match the competition? Let’s find out.
