In terms of aesthetics and visuals, we think the X79A-GD65 8D looks great with its black PCB and contrasting blues and silver all decked out in the Military tTheme; nothing too bold or outlandish here. The motherboard is tidy, neatly organized and looks of high quality and the MSI X79A-GD65 8D is going to make a lot of gamers and enthusiasts’ very happy. The board has a multitude of attractive features, and it’s a breeze to use with the OC Genie and overclocking for the novice.

There’s no more keyboard only maneuvering through those “Old School” BIOS setups with the brand new UEFI BIOS that MSI is presenting on their new X79 Chipset motherboards. This is the very user friendly BIOS you will find on any board from any manufacturer period. The interface is simple, clean, and very intuitive. There’s also the additional options of the “Click-BIOS II software and the MSI Control Center” where you will find the most vital options for everyday use. There is some redundancy between the two, but it’s nothing troublesome.

The MSI X79A-GD65 8D is one of the more reasonably priced X79 motherboards, available for about $300. You do thankfully get what you pay for here. It’s a great all-around motherboard, and we think it’s certainly worthy of consideration on your purchase shortlist.
