One of the things we’ve loved about the GeForce GTX 460 design is that it offers some great performance and value to gamers on modest budgets that don’t want to compromise too much. Nvidia really struck back with the release of this card, and it’s made for some interesting developments of late in the GPU wars.

Beyond the reference design cards, some manufacturers are taking what is already an impressive product and pushing things even further, with features such a custom heatsink or a factory overclock, for example. One such company that has is typically known for taking reference designs that extra mile is MSI. And true to form, they’ve done exactly that with their GTX 460 HAWK 1GB.

The HAWK sports a gorgeous custom Frozr II heatsink that we’ve seen on other MSI cards, but what’s really interesting about this model is that it comes with a huge factory overclock and has some voltage tweaking abilities. And we’re not talking some some lame little 25MHz overclock either. MSI goes for the jugular here, pushing the card very far. And all this while maintaining very low temperatures. Sounds like a recipe for a winner to us. Sound promising? We think so.

Let’s jump in and take a closer look at the MSI GTX 460 HAWK 1GB.
