MSI 890FXA-GD70
Introduction
With the AMD Phenom II X6 hex-core CPU lineup making waves in the marketplace, AMD has been on a roll of late, first with their 5000 series graphics cards through the ATI division, and then Thuban proving to be an excellent value chip for power computing. Looking to capitalize on this trend, enthusiasts are looking to extract the most out of the Leo platform, and the 890FX chipset is the last piece of that puzzle to now fit into place.
Today we’re looking at MSI’s foray into the USB 3.0 and SATA 6G market with their premium AM3 board, the 890FXA-GD70. This new board looks to build upon the success of MSI’s recent product offerings, bringing some enthusiast features into the mix through the 890FX chipset to the Phenom faithful.
We’ve seen a couple impressive AM3 motherboards of late, so let’s take a closer look at this new MSI board and see just what it can do when we drop in a flagship hex-core 1090T Black Edition chip.
