Portability and durability are two essential criteria for a flash drive. These small products may not reap as much attention as many other high-priced computer components do, but the flash drive is an essential product for a great number of people out there. Moving files between work, home, and school has become an essential part of our lifestyles, and having a reliable fast mobile solution has become more important than ever before.

The Memonex Race R310 is a pretty fast drive, putting up good results in the synthetic benchmark tests.  The Read speeds were excellent but the Write speeds unfortunately dropped off a bit more than we’d prefer to see.

There are a couple minor drawbacks here though. First, the R310 doesn’t come with any special encryption, locking, or fancy protection software; it’s a straightforward storage device to transfer and keep files. Mind you, not everyone needs that, so it’s more of an observation than any problem.  Second, the cap isn’t physically attached, and there is no lanyard, so there’s a chance you may lose the cap as people are prone to do.  Again, these are not major problems though.

The Race R310 comes in three flavors ranging from 16, 32, and 64GB drives giving you plenty of options to choose from.   At this point we don’t have an MSRP on the price of the Memonex Race R310 so we’ll have to reserve judgment as to how competitive it is against the other flash drives on the market and what sort of value you get for the money spent.  That being said, the Memonex Race R310 is lightweight, highly portable, durable, and the finish is absolutely gorgeous.
