The Kingwin F-35 is a sleek and affordable enclosure that comes in either black or red with active cooling via twin 50mm fans. The fans are fairly quiet and do a good job keeping the hard drive cool. The F-35 is 3.5” SATA I/SATA II HD compatible and data transfers via the USB connection are consistent, but it’s unfortunate that no e-SATA connection is offered. Not everyone has e-SATA, however, so for most people the USB will do just fine.
The blue LED activity light was a nice touch with just the right luminosity to avoid being annoying. We found the F-35 to be simple to set up and operate with a good short set of instructions.
Priced at just under $28 the F-35 offers aggressive styling, sturdy build quality, twin fan cooling and ease of use in a package that offers great value for your money. The F-35 doesn’t have any fancy features, but it is a good all-around enclosure that will get the job done without any hassle. If you’re looking to finally backing up your data with a SATA HD via USB 2.0, the Kingwin F-35 deserves consideration for an affordable alternative.
Our thanks go to Kingwin for providing the F-35 for this review.
