Introduction

We’ve seen solid state drives become very popular over the last couple of years, as prices have continued to drop and consumers are taking notice of the impressive overall system boost that SSDs can offer. And we’ve looked at many SandForce 2281-based drives in particular, and have come away impressed.

Another in the list of SandForce SSDs is the latest from KingSpec, called the Challenger E3000. It’s an Enterprise-targeted drive, with great random write performance. While KingSpec may not be well known to many of our readers, they are a company based in Shenzhen, China and only produce SSDs, nothing else. Strictly speaking, based on such a specific product lineup, KingSpec has an enormous capacity to produce a huge volume of drives for the market. So while they may not be as well known as some other brands, it appears their pedigree is impressive.

We love competition, so this new SSD should be interesting. Can the KingSpec Challenger E3000 live up to its billing? Let’s find out.
