HyperX Cloud Stinger Gaming Headset Review
Odds and Ends, wrap up and conclusion!
OK, you’re probably thinking this is a relatively short review. And it is, frankly that’s because the HyperX Cloud Stinger Gaming Headset is a focused device that does just what it aims to do, without a lot of extraneous software, add-ons etc, so we don’t need much space to give it good coverage!
Having said that, there are a couple of things worth mentioning or re-iterating that I may not have fit into the other categories, so let’s give that a shot before we close.
First, the 3.5mm to Mic/Stereo to dual 3.5mm Mic and Stereo jack splitter/extension. This is truly a nice accessory, especially given that HyperX support so many platforms with this headset. At 1.7 Meters, it more than doubles the 1.3 Meter length of the attached cable and is a boon for PC owners with their PC’s stuck under the desk! It is well designed and performs perfectly.
Comfort and build quality. I’ve been wearing these off and on for a week or so, and I have to say I like them. They aren’t too heavy and are relatively comfortable. They do get a bit warm, which I suspect is a memory foam thing rather than anything else.
With those minor things said, here’s the summary.
The HyperX Cloud Stinger Gaming Headset is a nice piece of gear. It aims to please gamers while not being too expensive. At $50, I think HyperX hit the mark. They are solidly built for the price, their sound quality is definitely decent, and they have a limited but well thought out and tightly focused feature set. No gimmicky software, no excess materials in the box, a simple and aesthetic appearance, and they just work.
The extra long adapter cable, coupled to the relatively long main cable make these headsets easily usable in most gaming situations, and again, they just work!
I think that the HyperX Cloud Stinger Gaming Headset has earned the PureOC Great Hardware award for doing just what is needed, and doing it well!
