Summary

The High Power Absolute Power 1000 is a sleek power supply that delivers solid features and reasonably good performance when heavily loaded with a case full of power-hungry components.  From a feature standpoint, the accessories included in this package are nothing spectacular, but there is a good assortment of sleeved modular cables that support SLI/CrossFire setups, and an easy-to-use and labeled modular connection design is employed.  The cables are on the shorter side of acceptable, and may post problems if you have a bottom-mounted full tower case and try to route the cables behind the motherboard tray and out of sight.

From a functional standpoint, the Absolute Power 1000 has an 80 PLUS efficiency rating and a quiet operation.  However, the low noise levels, coupled with small heatsinks, cause the unit to run at higher temperatures than we’d prefer to see on a kilowatt unit, and we think this could be easily solved by adjusting the fan speeds for higher RPMs when operating a high loads. The 12V rail measurements also dropped a bit more than we’d prefer to see from a kilowatt unit.

While the High Power Absolute Power 1000 isn’t a standout in any one category, it is a good all-round power supply that offers a combination of features, functionality, and aesthetics for those on a tighter budget.
