We’ve had an onslaught of new memory introductions as of late. There are so many choices in this competitive market with a bundle of name brands. For some time, G.Skill has been synonymous with high performance and quality namely with their Ripjaws series. The G.Skill Ares series stands out for a few reasons: low profile heat spreaders makes air cooling selections easy and the performance keeps the G.Skill trend rolling as we see today.

The blue aesthetics are very handsome and would look great with motherboards that have blue highlights but also add some pizazz to the black monochromatic motherboards we have seen as of late. The 2133MHz CAS 9 rating is one of the best rated speeds of any modules we have tested to date and the G.Skill’s specifications hold true in our testing. The overclocking prowess on our X79 platform was great as the high overclock fell only 4MHz short of the G.Skill RipjawsZ modules we recently tested. Overall, 2133MHz seems to be a sweet spot with these modules but for those looking for more cutting edge and aggressive performance can look to 2400MHz+ with the Ares modules.

Also keep in mind these modules are entirely compatible with Z77 motherboards, so enthusiasts are covered on that chipset platform as well. We have seen a wide variety of price points with all manufacturers with 16GB kits ranging on the low of $100 to the high of $200. The G.Skill Ares 16G 2133MHz CAS 9 memory modules are well priced at $149, providing an excellent value for the performance and features you get with this package. They look great, run fantastic, fit with almost any motherboard out there, overclock extremely well, and come with a very reasonable price. We’ve got a top choice here.
