Introduction

One of the things we’ve loved about the GeForce GTX 460 design is that it offers some great performance and value to gamers who can’t afford to fork out big bucks for a flagship card. And not only that, but it’s proven very formidable against the release of the AMD 6850 and 6870 graphics cards as well. And that means it’s a great time to be a gamer with $200 burning a hole in your pocket.

Beyond the reference design cards, some manufacturers are taking what is already an impressive product and pushing things even further, with features such a custom heatsink or a factory overclock, for example. One such company that is doing exactly that is Gigabyte. Their GTX 460 Super Overclock is one of the fastest models on the market, with a massive overclock and a a beefy cooler to keep temperatures under control. That is a very alluring combination, no doubt.

So just how much faster is the SOC than the reference card? Oh, it’s fast alright, as you’ll soon see. Can it thrash the 6850 or 6870 competition? Well, let’s just say you’re in for a treat today.

Read on to find out the answers as we look more closely at the Gigabyte GTX 460 Super Overclock 1GB.
