We’ve recently seen the Nvidia GeForce GTX 460 to be a formidable card, providing excellent performance and value in the $200 segment. But for gamers on a more modest budget, Nvidia has released their latest card in the Fermi lineup, the GeForce GTS 450. It’s priced very aggressively at about $129 for the reference model, and Nvidia hopes to build upon its success of the GTX 460.

Perhaps you’re an Nvidia fanboy, perhaps you’re attracted by its PhysX capabilities, or maybe you want impressive Folding@Home capabilities; whatever the reason, if you’re a gamer on a modest budget, then this product launch will strike a chord. The Gigabyte GeForce GTS 450 1GB is one such partner card, setting its sights directly on the Radeon 5750 as competition in terms of performance and price. And from what we’ve seen, Nvidia looks ready to stick it to ATI with this new card in the mainstream market segment, and Gigabyte may be well positioned to capitalize on the resurgence.

This product launch also brings an entirely new series of drivers from Nvidia, with a long-overdue facelift that offers users far more customization and ease of use for installation and setups. We’ll also have a quick look at that in our look at this Gigabyte GTS 450 to see how it fares against the competition.
