With AMD’s new Leo platform now in full swing, along with the 5000 series graphics card and hex-core Thuban CPU, the 890FX chipset is the last piece of that puzzle for enthusiasts looking to extract the most out of the AMD lineup.

Bringing new features such as USB 3.0 and SATA 6G in the form of a premium AM3 board, the Gigabyte 890FXA-UD5 is a stylish board looks to build upon the success of Gigabyte’s recent product offerings. With strong performance in a solid and no-fuss product, the UD5 brings enthusiast-class quality and features to those looking to push their system to the limit.

We’ve seen a couple AM3 motherboards of late, and with Gigabyte’s reputation among overclockers, we decided not to baby this board during testing; we dropped in a flagship hex-core 1090T Black Edition CPU, along with some extreme cooling, to see just what this UD5 motherboard can do. And without wanting to spoil the results, let’s just say we put up some killer numbers.

Let’s take a closer look at the Gigabyte 890FXA-UD5.
