Summary

Fanless, passively-cooled power supplies are a bit of a rare breed in today’s market dominated by high-wattage thoroughbreds. But everyone loves a dark horse, and the FSP Zen 400 is certainly one of them, a small gem of a unit in a sea of largesse.

The FSP Zen 400 is a power supply that delivers rock solid performance when heavily loaded with power-hungry components. From an aesthetic standpoint, the presentation is sleek but the blue colour may turn some potential buyers away, which truly would be unfortunate because the Zen packs a powerful punch and offers very compelling features. From a functional standpoint, the Zen 400 boasts excellent voltage regulation and efficiency, in an utterly silent operation.  Really there aren’t any detractions on this unit to speak of.

While the unit is rather expensive ($150 USD) compared to its fanned counterparts, it is reasonably priced given its intended market. You can find the Zen available direct from FSP on http://www.shopfsp.com For consumers who are looking for a silent system build, the FSP Zen 400 is a superb power supply that offers an excellent combination of features and functionality in a silent setup.  If you are looking for a quality fanless power supply, they don’t come much better than this.
