Intro

As most of us know, big notebook/desktop replacements are a royal pain to cart around with you. They weigh far more than any reasonable notebook ought to weigh, and can get supremely hot. Chances are for most of you out there who own anything in the 17″ category or larger, if it’s built to game and it doesn’t say Razer or Maingear then it weighs a ton. Even if you have a proper backpack to cart your gigantic notebook around in, it’s never comfortable. As a result, they tend to just stay put on a desk somewhere. Well, Enermax is here to tell you that just because it has to remain stationary doesn’t mean it can’t have a classy home to accompany it.

Meet the Enermax AeroOdio. While it’s name is a bit on the bizarre side, what it offers is nothing short of awesome for it’s price bracket: a 220mm speed-adjustable fan, dual stereo speakers with DreamBass Audio embedded, USB 2.0 relocation, cable management and support for up to 17″ notebooks. Can this pad hold it’s own and deliver on what it promises? Read on to find out.

Some time ago I became the user of this cooling pad. Yes.. It presents itself so well that it made on me quite an impression – in addition it was not made from cheap plastic. It perfectly holds all flat surface. The cooling fan dropped the temperature of my notebook’s HDD about 8 degrees but I think it is for me too noisy – I can hear it all the time (well, unless I’m wearing headphones). Maybe it’s caused from keeping cooling pad on a wooden small table, but otherwise I didn’t check. Besides, at a lower fan speed I can hear a clattering, so leave it at max speed.
And what with these two inconspicuous speakers under the cover caps? I think that it’s playing much better than those in my notebook (although this has 4 speakers and 1 subwoofer) – the sound is loud, clear, more pure and cool for music and watching the movies. Bass is weak. The volume level we can only change by the dial located at the rear of the pad.
