Introduction

By now it’s no secret that Intel will be releasing the Sandy Bridge-based processors in the not-too-distant future. This will bring a new socket, LGA 1155, to the market, and as we know a new socket also brings a new chipset. As we saw with the LGA 1156 and continuing the trend with the new socket, the P-based chipset will be the performance oriented motherboards, while the H-based boards will bring onboard graphics capabilities.

Today we’re previewing two new motherboards from ECS for the Sandy Bridge processors: the P67H2-A and H67H2-M. We are limited as to what we can tell and show you, however, as the processors and specific chipset details are under NDA. However, we can give a photographic walkabout of each of these boards and talk about what we see, so we’ll do that today.

ECS has typically been known for providing value-oriented motherboards to consumers, and their Black Series products are well known. However, it seems they’ve not been content to simply go after the value-oriented market, have decided to make a push into the premium segment, one that is currently dominated by only a few manufacturers. These two new boards from ECS look to signal a change in that trend, as they bring new styling and features to the mix, ones that consumers will find very interesting.

So let’s dive into the photoshoot and see what we can glean from these new 6-series Intel motherboards from ECS.

ECS, the Elitegroup Computer Systems, has been a pioneer in designing and manufacturing computer motherboards since 1987. With its 21 years of experience in designing and manufacturing motherboards, the building block of many of today’s personal computers, ECS is expected to remain as one of the major contributors in the IT industry. The company is very fortunate to work very closely with many major chip designers in the PC industry on the design, development and manufacture of future IT innovations. Together with its business partners and its team members around the world, ECS is ready to provide a rich variety of new products and great services to its customers in the years to come.
