Package and Accessories

The EliteGroup A990FXM-A is packaged in fine fashion and the graphics/colors are unlike any we have seen. All of the majors have migrated to some form of black or red coloring but as we see, ECS uses a very bold green color separating them from the rest of the pack. On the front we see EliteGroup, the model name and Black Extreme branding. The Black Edition branding definitely does not coincide with the package color which is somewhat baffling, but as we will see later, it is a blend with the actual motherboard aesthetics. Also shown is "8 core optimized, 3 way Crossfire, GUI UEFI BIOS, Bluetooth and USB 3.0 support".

The rear of the box shows an in depth look at the A990FXM-A with all the features and specifications with a photo of the motherboard.

The ECS 990FXM-A box has a flip tab alike other manufacturers with a transparent window showing a partial view of the motherboard. The flip tab shows boost features of the ECS motherboard namely ECS’ QOOLTECH IV Thermal Dissipation technology.

The accessories package is plentiful. Let’s start with the user’s manual, installation guide, motherboard utility CD, six SATA cables, three SLI bridges, I/O backplate shield and front USB 3.0 tray. We have to point out the A990FXM-A features a LED debug indicator and there are no debug codes in the manual. In our opinion, why have a LED Debug if the user cannot cross reference the problem?

Let’s check out the board.
