BOTTOM LINE:

Poseidon is very much its own bag. It stands up to its bigger brethren by offering a style of its own and offering features not seen on the Spear. With the quality, features and strong durable woven materials the Poseidon is made of, it is one of the best values you will find. You may find some that have the quality and features but will be priced a lot higher than the ECBC Poseidon.

Materials:

ECBC choose Kodra, a synthetic nylon blend made in Korea for the base and the main body of the Poseidon. Kodra is high quality, abrasion resistant, lightweight and coated with a water repellant substance. It is still very durable but lighter than other materials. It is kind of stiff like canvas yet not as coarse. As you can see in the series of pictures below, different weave patterns are used for each section of the bag.

When viewed side by side you can clearly see the distinctive weave patterns between the main body and the shoulder strap.

The other material used in the construction of the Poseidon is called Double Diamond Ripstop. The majority of the lining and pocket sections are made from this material. It is a silver/grey color with red stitching and a darker grey piping on the outer edges. You can clearly see the diamond pattern in the pictures below. The Diamond Ripstop is designed to be tear & rip resistant during the course of sliding things in and out of the bag. It will probably last just as long as the outer Korda material.
