Introduction

Gone are the days of the cliche grey metal power supply that housed cables no longer than your forearm. Consumers have wisened to the reality of protecting their money invested into quality core components, certainly not the least of which is the modern power supply. These days they come in various models and makes, wattages and colours, with manufacturers now offering a wide selection of choices to discerning users who will fork out a good chunk of their hard-earned money. And with systems typically consuming more and more power with each subsequent generation, the once-lowly power supply now occupies a place of honor and prestige in a computer system.

Which brings us to our topic of today: the Corsair Professional Series Gold AX1200 power supply. Corsair has a relatively short history in the power supply market, but it’s been a successful one. Looking to build upon that success, Corsair now has the AX1200, a beast of a power supply that can power the most demanding system that enthusiasts can muster. The AX1200 has an entirely modular setup and is built using server-grade architecture. Sounds like Corsair may have another winner on their hands.

Let’s take a closer look and find out.

"Corsair has been a leader in the design and manufacture of high-speed modules since 1994. Our focus has always been on supporting the special demands of extreme gamers. While maintaining this core focus, in recent years, we?ve also brought our expertise, technology leadership and legendary quality and reliability to memory and other technology products for the mainstream consumer. Corsair has expanded beyond memory modules to offer performance liquid cooling units and blocks under our Corsair Nautilus brand and power supplies under our HX and now the AX Series brand. "
