Specifications & Package

From Cooler Master: The UCP (Ultimate Circuit Protection) series is a new generation of power supplies from Cooler Master designed with quality circuits which specialize in efficiency. With first class soft-start circuits, the lives of the primary circuit components are extended. The continuous active clamp forward switching technology and the D/D VRMs circuit design achieves over 88% efficiency which makes this of the best PSUs in the 80 Plus Silver category. The unique appearance of the UCP is made of a special coating that screams high quality and ruggedness and this is the type of things for high end PCs, especially for Quad SLI setup. Cooler Master also provides an extra-long 5-year warranty with the customer in mind!

The features of the Cooler Master UCP 900W are as follows:

  • VRM (Voltage Regulation Module) Circuit offers high efficiency and Power density
  • Compliance with the newest Intel standard ATX 12V V2.3
  • Compliance with the newest SSI standard EPS 12V V2.92
  • Ultra-silent operation with intelligent 120mm fan speed control
  • Eco-design for energy and money saving by Active PFC (>0.9) / high efficiency (>88%)
  • Power Failure Detector will light up when OVP/OCP/OPP/SCP/UVP/OTP occur
  • Soft-start circuit: a protection mechanism that limits the input inrush current by delaying the actual power-on of the PSU to prevent damage to it
  • Green mode PFC control circuit by intelligent PWM power conversion
  • High quality Japanese capacitors (solid polymer caps on secondary)
  • By using a single 12V switching circuit design you get a more efficient AC to DC conversion which leads to an overall more efficient PSU

The UCP 900W is packaged in a rather simple black box, complete with a single picture of the power supply on the front and a listing of the features and specifications on the rear of the box.  The box is packaged very well and snug, with no worries about damage.  Included is a CD manual, power cord, and screws. A satisfactory package here, nothing extravagent, but nothing missing.

It would have been nice if a couple conversion cables were included such a a Y-Molex or PCIe to Molex. The only thing different here to note is that the power cable pins are different that most standard ones, so you cannot use another cord for the UCP 900W, it has to be the included one. This is because the power cable can now support up to 16A, so don’t lose the cable or you’ll be hard-pressed to find a replacement.
