Packaging and Un-Boxing
The SF 17 Gaming Notebook Cooler manages to stands out against the dark high gloss packaging. You can tell this isn’t your average notebook cooler by just looking at the box. A few of the features are listed on the lower left hand corner. You will notice the SF-17 can actually support up to a 19” gaming notebook. I’m not really sure why CM Storm didn’t continue with the SF-19 series with a new moniker. The SF-15 can support up to a 15.6” gaming notebooks.
The rear of the box offers a bit more information on the SF-17. There are four small pictures displaying some of the more important features: the adjustable height, a 4 port USB expansion hub, the fan size and the cable management grooves. The specs listed above are also shown on the top right of the box. CM Storm is showing they are a true worldwide company by having the features listing in 11 different languages.
The bottom the SF-17 is illuminated by red LEDs making it look like the front of KITT, the talking car from “Knight Rider.” CM Storm lets you know what product you just bought and includes a link to the website if you need more information.
There is a carry handle and a couple of company logos located on top of the box.
With the lid open you will see the dark color theme continues inside the packaging. Even the foam inserts are black. The SF notebook cooler is wrapped inside a clear plastic bag for protection against scratching. Inside you will find the user guide, USB power cable and the SF-17 or SF15.
