Overview

Hardware:

Manufacturer:

Release Date: currently available

Price at time of Review: $149.98 @ outletpc.com

WHAT WE LIKED:

Excellent interior layout, durable construction, easy-to-use and ample feature set, tons of cable routing room, accommodations for XL-ATX boards, quiet stock fans with flexible fan options, ample dust filtering, extremely competitive pricing, great motherboard tray layout for ultra clean builds

WHAT WE DISLIKED:

Stock 140mm fan not particularly strong, some small quality control issues, hard to find

BOTTOM LINE:
For a full featured full tower without the full price, the Casecom Halcones CL-86 ticks all the right boxes to provide exceptional value that is hard to find.

Final Thoughts

Casecom is a relative unknown here in the U.S., and it’s a shame, really. If the Halcones is any indication as to the kinds of products they can produce, then we would really like to see more of their product lineup. The main issue with this particular case is that it is very difficult to find here. Outletpc.com has this case listed at $149.98, making this an absolute steal considering what this case will hold and the features it has. The stock fans which adorn it are also pretty quiet, though if you had to choose one of them to ditch we would pick the 140mm unit as it leaves a bit to be desired in terms of perceived focused airflow.

Let’s not forget about modding: this case simply oozes with modding potential, from easily re-coloring the case to re-finishing the plastic panels and radiator fitment. Even the left side panel could be modified easily to house a beautifully gigantic window, exposing that lovely interior for everyone to see in “jelly”-inducing fits of bewilderment at how clean everything is.

We liked this case enough that it has now become the semi-permanent home for one of our review staffer’s rigs. It comes as a bit of a shock to us, but despite the minor foibles we had with the case we are left with little choice in the matter: The Casecom Halcones handily earns a PureOverclock Editor’s Choice award!
