Can't charge all smartphones (depends upon the device and its battery size). Conclusion
While the Braven BRV-1 might be a bit bulky, its rugged yet durable design is packed full of features and easily makes up for it. Braven know what music lovers want. We want great audio quality in a hands free speaker that doesn’t have to be constantly charged. This affordable high performance speaker wasn’t only meant for music enthusiasts but is also perfect for outdoor activities as well. Its incorporated omni-directional microphone makes it easy to hold conference calls too!
From a distance of 10 meters (33ft), the exceptional sound quality and hands free controls for both your music and your phone will surprise you with this device. This speaker might be big but it’s not afraid to make itself known. This dual 1.5 inch speaker was meant to be the center of attention.
It’s rechargeable 1,400 mAh battery lasts just over 17 hours, which is astounding, but don’t be surprised when it finally dies with no warning since there is no audible warning of a low battery or visual indicator (other than the battery level indicators on the back). At the time of the review, the speaker was on sale for $149.99 with an original MSRP of $179.99 USD. Considering the quality and durability of this speaker, this is still a great buy and a great price considering all its features. This product holds a one year manufacturer’s warranty, with its price, I personally wouldn’t mind seeing a longer warranty period, maybe 2 or 3 years. Although it doesn’t carry a long warranty, I still wouldn’t recommend anything else. You don’t want to go cheap and settle for something less. The Braven BRV-1 easily earns our PureOverclock Editor’s Choice award.
