Introduction

The sheer number of USB drives on the market today can most certainly make your head spin, offering just about anything under the sun to suit your needs, from rugged to tiny, flashy to even just downright weird.  But one thing we haven’t seen until now is a flash drive that is targeted specifically to the environmentally-conscious consumer, a product that seeks to mitigate some of the impacts on the world around us.

ATP was kind enough to send us one of their EarthDrives for a look, a product that seeks to break the mold, so to speak, in the world of flash drives.  Promising environmentally-sensitive manufacturing that does not come at the expense of performance, the EarthDrive certainly piqued our curiousity, not only from a practical standpoint but also a philosophical one: What IF a product could offer performance and a better environmental ethic?  Why COULDN’T more companies be thinking like this?  Just the tip of the proverbial Pandora’s Box when it comes to the environment and our impact on it, we decided to leave the philosophy to the Tao of Pooh and focus on the EarthDrive on the desk.

We would to thank our friends at ATP for supplying the review sample.

Established in 1991, ATP has over 17 years of experience in the design, manufacture, and support of high performance, highest quality DRAM modules and NAND flash storage products.
