ASUS Xonar D2X
Summary
With the ASUS Xonar D2X, it can safely be said that you will experience some of the best audio you have heard in quite some time, if not the best you’ve ever heard. Having a full feature set, an attractive EMI shield, and the best PC audio quality that I have heard to date, means that the D2X should definitely be at the top of your short list of sound cards for your next upgrade. And, not only is the feature set great, but the inclusion of anything you could pretty much want in the accessories package, including two different studio mixing programs (Ableton Live and Sonar LE), drastically increases the “bang for the buck”.
But as one would expect, a product that boasts as well as the D2X commands a premium price. Coming in at $199 on newegg ($169 after mail in rebate), the D2X is on the higher end of the consumer level sound cards. It’s still not quite in the range of the professional cards, but still expensive nonetheless for the average consumer.
If you want the best sound you can possibly get without shelling out the money for the professional studio card, then the ASUS D2X is the card to get, and likely to be the last sound card you’ll ever own for a long time.
