ASUS SBW-06C1S-U External Slim Blu-ray Writer
Additonal Tests
Here I am going to add some projects to the review that I think will enhance the review. These tests, unlike my standard tests, are to reflect how the drive will perform while performing day-to-day burning projects.
Real World Tests:
Real world tests are designed to simulate what normal users might use their drives for in everyday use. For example, writing discs with a burning application. Since the ASUS SBW-06C1S-U is a Blu-ray writer I will show you a new program from the folks at VSO Software?s.? This software ?Blu-ray to DVD? will help you back-up your valuable BD movie to DVD5/9 and retain the Hi-Def quality of video. VSO is a company based in France and due to their law they cannot include any type of decrypter with the programs.? Therefore I will be using AnyDVDHD from my friends at Slysoft.com in conjunction with Blu-ray to DVD. I will use ?Blu-ray to DVD? to convert the Blu-ray BD Movie Avatar (my own personal copy) to DVD9 (DVD DL): Let?s see how the program works.
Main Window
I deselected the Burn Settings and Ripped to Output to my HDD to Burn while testing the DVD?R DL portion of this review.
Below you see the options for your Output files.
Settings
Once you BD movie begin to process you will see the screen above and double check your settings to ensure you are getting the output desired.
Process
Once the process completes you will get the above screen with your options; I selected to open the output folder to check that all the proper file attributes are there for a successful burn.
Finish
Output Folder I burned the completed project with Power2Go which one of the programs on the ASUS BD Solutions disc that comes with the ASUS SBW-06C1S-U. That burn is shown in the DVD+R DL 4X writing test in the previous section of the review. Let?s take a look at another option to convert our Blu-ray to DVD…..
DVDFab is popular software to convert Blu-ray to DVD; FAB has several internal modules if you will for just about anything you would want to do with your own personal movie collection.
Today I will highlight its Blu-ray to DVD and output to a folder for burning in DVD9 (DVD DL) format.
With DVDFab open I select the Blu-ray to DVD tab on the left side of the window:

Opened Folder
Once again, I burned the completed project with Power2Go which one of the programs on the ASUS BD Solutions disc that comes with the ASUS SBW-06C1S-U.? That burn is shown in the DVD-R DL 4X writing test in the previous section of the review.
Well, that wraps up my review of the ASUS SBW-06C1S-U Blu-ray Drive so let?s head on to the conclusion…..
