Introduction

Intel’s second generation Core i7 processors are in full bloom and socket 2011 (X79) motherboards have popped up like a gold rush. Performance has been great and Intel’s latest evolution of SandyBridge processors reigns king of the hill in performance. The X79 chipset follows Intel’s “Tick Tock” strategy and brings some new changes to the table as the race leaps ahead with all the motherboard manufacturers looking to capture market share.
