Introduction

There have been several new motherboards hitting the shelves recently, from both the Intel and AMD camps, notably the Z68 and 990FX chipsets, respectively. These have garnered much of the attention lately, overshadowing Intel’s flagship X58 platform.

We all know that LGA1366 X58 motherboards are not new products. They’ve been around for some time now and have proven to have quite a bit of longevity; Although LGA 1366 is not Intel’s flagship product anymore, it is still hanging around with the i7 950 through the icon i7 990X, Intel’s flagship processor.

There are a wide range of boards on the market to suit many preferences and needs but the industry is now focused on Sandy Bridge and does address the needs of another viable platforms such as LGA 1366.
