ASRock X79 Extreme4-M
ASRock has been on the fast track of late and showing no signs of slowing down. We thought very highly of their ASRock Z68 Fatal1ty Professional and the ASRock Fatal1ty P67 Professional, as both boards took home our “Editor’s Choice” award.
Sometimes being overlooked in the past, the ASRock boards used to play second fiddle to the big boys but they are rapidly gaining a reputation for producing quality, robust, great looking, and high performance motherboards. Opening up the box and looking the X79 Extreme4-M, it quickly becomes apparent that ASRock is not going to be resting on laurels; the company appears to be focused and it’s full speed ahead.
Today we will be investigating one of their new offerings in the X79-based Socket 2011 lineup, the ASRock X79 Extreme4-M, to see if ASRock carries on from the solid foundations in their Z68 boards offered. As you can see in the image above, the Extreme-M is a Micro ATX board, but it looks to offer the majority of performance features of its bigger brother, the X79 Extreme4. Micro boards don’t typically carry the same esteem as the full-sized counterparts, but today may be different. This particular m-ATX board packs a ton of features, more then you’d imagine for a price tag of about $219. Frankly, it looks like a hardcore gamer and/or enthusiast motherboard, able to run multiple graphics cards and featuring impressive auto overclocking results. Not bad for a little board.
Let’s dive in and see how well the ASRock Extreme4-M can perform.
