Introduction

Preparation is key to all elements in competition. Championship caliber teams epitomize both preparation, anticipation and are always one step ahead of their competitors. Engineers at ASRock have prepared for the long waited release of Bulldozer and have released the 890FX Deluxe5 motherboard. ASRock is the first manufacturer to launch a motherboard based on AMD’s next gen Zambezi Fusion based CPU’s. Buzz is really starting to build about Bulldozer’s performance, but before we get the cart in front of the horse, we will take a peek at this sleek motherboard and see what kind of championship performance we have.

Upcoming Bulldozer based desktop processors, known internally as Zambezi, will feature socket AM3+ which will be backwards compatible with socket AM3. The release in scheduled July 2011. In the meantime, ASRock has taken the 890FX chipset and given it a bit of a facelift in the Deluxe5 motherboard, bringing a couple new features and innovations that ASRock is known for. One of the most interesting features is the UEFI BIOS that we’ve seen on P67 chipsets, which is groundbreaking on an AMD board.
