With the AMD Phenom II X6 hex-core CPU lineup making waves in the marketplace, AMD has been on a roll of late, first with their 5000 series graphics cards through the ATI division, and then Thuban proving to be an excellent value chip for power computing. Looking to capitalize on this trend, enthusiasts are looking to extract the most out of the Leo platform, and the 890FX chipset is the last piece of that puzzle to now fit into place.

However, while most enthusiasts have an unfettered wishlist for premium products, not all have unlimited budgets to accompany those dreams. Modest budgets may be the norm more often than not, and the reality of finding top value for your hard-earned money may likely trump all else. Fear not, O ye of frugal means, for today the sun doth shine upon thee in thy hour of need and yearning! (Ok, I’ll forego the attempt at Shakespearean prose).

Today we’re looking at ASRock’s foray into the high-end AMD market with their premium AM3 board, the 890FX Deluxe3. This board aims to bring some premium features at a budget price to the Phenom faithful. We’ve seen a couple impressive AM3 motherboards of late, so let’s take a closer look at this new ASRock board and see just what it can do when we drop in a flagship hex-core 1090T Black Edition chip.

Thanks go to ASRock for supplying the review sample.
