Summary

The Antec High Power Gamer M is a solid power supply that delivers very good features and performance and does it in style as well; that is, if you don’t mind a bit of flash with that bold red-coloured corporate logo. It may be a love-hate thing, but we think it looks good. The LED fan adds a bit of panache, but you do have the option of turning it off.

From a feature standpoint, the unit is 80PLUS Bronze certified, which is respectable for a unit in the 750W range at this price point. The High Power Gamer M is modular, a good move by Antec to offer better features and cost competitiveness in this $99 price bracket, as there are some other good power supplies out there.

In terms of performance, the High Power Gamer M finished very well, with some movement on the rails during voltage regulation testing, and the +12V was a bit overvolted. Nothing problematic though at all. The ripple results were very good, posting some of the better results we’ve seen in this price range across the board. The internal components are good choices, and it’s a quality build inside as well.

There are a couple detractions here to blunt what is otherwise an excellent mid-range unit. The hard-wired cables are a bit too short if you have any aspirations of neatly cabling the inside of your case; there simply isn’t enough slack, especially if you have dreams of putting this power supply in a full tower. The fan is on the noisy side when running at higher RPMs as well, though your CPU or GPU fan will easily overpower the noise levels here. Lastly, the price of $99 is a bit higher than some other respectable models competing in this power range. You do get a quality unit, however, so it’s certainly not overpriced; you get what you pay for here.

The Antec High Power Gamer M is a solid unit with a bit of stylish appointments, in a no-nonsense package that is very well built and performs admirably. It’ll cost you a bit more than some of the competition, but you get a reputable name backed by a 5 year warranty and great performance. The High Power Gamer M gets our recommendation.
