AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition
The holidays are approaching, and with them come product refreshes galore. CPUs, GPUs, motherboards, the whole lot get refreshed just before Christmas. This refresh from AMD is good on a few levels. While it won’t bring what we can call “new” products, it will have some more highly clocked parts and a new flagship. These chips will fall in where their predecessors were priced before the recent price drop, and they are still priced significantly lower than Intel’s chips, and still fall behind in single threaded performance.
This update has something for everyone, with an Athlon II X3, Phenom II X2 and a new flagship Phenom II X6. Again, only the Phenom II X6 has Turbo. They all feature 100MHz bumps to speed, the usual amount. For those who don’t like to overclock, that’s great. For those that do, well, the Phenom II X6 has a good improvement we’re happy to see, though it won’t be in its specs.
For review, we’ve got the Phenom II X6 1100T, AMD’s new flagship. Though it may look like a simple speed boost at first glance, we found out it’s got a bit more lurking under the hood when the voltages and juiced up. Let’s check it out.
