AMD Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition
Introduction
As we patiently await for Bulldozer to arrive, AMD has released one of the last hurrahs for the long running Phenom II series code named Deneb. Today we take a look at the Phenom II X4 980 which features a bump in core speed over its predecessors and should provide us with good value in price versus performance.
The initial release of the Phenom commenced in late 2007 and has been a stronghold for AMD for some time keeping them in the game against their rival Intel. Bloomfield, Sandybridge and a host of many different sockets from Intel may have better performance but apparently, AMD has not been sitting idle and hopefully, the 980 will perform up to expectations.
Let’s see how things shake out.
